Khao Ngoen (Silvery Hill) is located within Somdech Phra Srinagarindra Park, approximately 71km south of Chumphon town. Take Highway 41 til you reach the Lang Suan junction. Turn right at the junction and continue for 3km til the road ends. You will be at the base of the hill.
There are 3 caves of note found in this hill. The first, which is considered the main cave, is where King Rama V’s initials can be found. This cave is on the southern side of the hill, behind a white pagoda (built to commemorate the King's visit to Lang Suan in 1889) and next to the golden fat Buddha.
The cave interior looks like a big hall with a chimney going through to an opening in the hill top. The floor of the cave has been tiled with a roofed Buddha shrine within.
The 'Caves & Caving in Thailand' website has referenced this as Cave No. CP0016.
On the cave’s right wall as you enter can be found his Majesty’s King Rama V initial Chor. Por. Ror.
The second cave can be found on the western side of the hill, behind a made pond.
The cave has a small opening but this goes through to a large cavern which would estimate is 30m across. Other than the man-made pond at its entrance the interior of the cave is untouched, in its natural state. This has allowed a large colony of bats to establish.
The 'Caves & Caving in Thailand' website has referenced this as Cave No. CP0150.
The third cave can be found on the eastern upper side of the hill, where a rather ornate staircase leads to it.
It is a large through cave and religious items can be found within.
The 'Caves & Caving in Thailand' website has referenced this as Cave No. CP0151.
Being high up on the hill the view from the cave entrance is impressive.
