Lokkam Bay
Lokkam Bay is 57km south of Chumphon town. Take the Sawi junction off Highway 41. At the traffic lights in Sawi turn right and travel down road 4003 for 10km til you reach this junction. There is a row of shops on the right.
Take the un-named road to the right and travel down this road for 10km. There is a crossroads where you go straight over and a left turn where you just follow the main road. Just after a very steep hill you will see the bay on your right, where there is some roadside parking.
Lokkam Bay is 400m of sandy beach between two rock outcrops.
At the eastern end of the beach is a lovely big tree offering shade. This is good place to setup. And with no shops or restaurants nearby it normally means you have the beach to yourselves.
There’s great snorkeling around the eastern headland. A good number of both soft and hard corals and loads of small fish. There is a swim-through (tunnel) of about 3 meters where 1000’s of glass fish can be found hiding. On one visit came across a water monitor lizard sitting on a rock by a small cave. Was able to get quite close before it swam off into the cave.
Being out on a headland you normally find the water a lot cleaner.
