Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Park

Location : https://maps.app.goo.gl/YmT1WFZw41ozUAuu8

Somdet Phra Sinagarindra Park is approximately 71km south of Chumphon town. Take Highway 41 till you reach Lang Suan traffic light junction. Turn right at the junction and continue on for 3km where the entrance to the park is on the left.
The park is sign posted and open daily from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.
The park contains ornamental plants and at it's centre is a statue of the King’s Grandmother, Somdet Phra Sinagarindra. An ornamental stairway has been built up to a cave in the higher part of Khao (Hill) Ngoen (Silvery).
From the top of the stairway you get a good view looking towards Lang Suan.

Khau Ngoen Walk

Khao Ngoen is not a big hill and is easily walked around. From the statue follow the road round the mountain in a clockwise direction. Just after the toilets you will come to the Lang Suan river. Here you have two options. You can stay on the road and continue around the hill at its base.
The other option, which is recommended, is to take the path over the southern side of the hill.
Its not a big climb and all the way is under the cover of trees. You will find shaded seating to relax and take in the view.
The path descends on the western side of the hill beside another cave. There are three caves to explore in Khao Ngoen and they are the subject of a separate blog.
The western side the hill has a steep limestone rock face and this is maybe how it got its name, Silvery Hill. Also it is amazing how big trees have taken root in these rocks.
On the western side of Khao Ngoen is a large grass area and a place for easy access to the river. Nice for a picnic and a swim.
Continuing in a clockwise direction around the hill you will come to the entrance to the park and after that back to the statue of Somdet Phra Srinagarindra.
Khao Ngoen is the home to a large troop of macaque monkeys who will watch your every move.
And check over your car!
