Islands off Tambon Dan Sawi

Thanks to my friend Wayne and Ammy from Na Koa Rim Lay Home Stay was able to take a rather nice boat trip around the islands (Ko) off Tambon Dan Sawi.
Our boat was a wide body long tail.
Catching a day when the weather could not be better we set off from Tong Tom towards Ko Mat Wai Yai, on the way passing Ko Thong Kaeo.
On Ko Mat Wai Yai we saw a number of shacks used by the people who collect the bird nests for that expensive soup. You would not want to be a sleep walker the way the huts are perched on the cliffs.
From Ko Mat Wai Yai we headed onto Ko Mat Wai Noi.
Then it was onto Koh Kula
There is a resort (still under construction) on the island run by the Chumphon National Park. A 200Bhatt fee is payable if you wish to explore the island. Whilst we did not do partake the snorkeling here looks good.
After a coffee break on Ko Kula we then headed over to Ko Yung.
After which passing onto Ko Nu and then Ko Maeo.
Then we headed towards the fishing village on the end of the headland. Just off the village this net suspended on poles.
At night a light is placed at its center and the net lowered into the water.
After some time the net is raised catching the squid attracted by the light.

From here the boat followed the coastline back to Tong Tom passing my favourite beach.

Again thanks to Wayne and Ammy for a nice day out. As there was three of us it was my version of Jerome K. Jerome novel 'Three Men in a Boat' 😎

  1. Other than the resort on Ko Kula the other islands do not offer easy access (steep cliffs). For me the place to camp, within easy access of the islands, is my favourite beach, mentioned above. http://chumphonplaces.blogspot.com/2015/06/beaches.html
