Khao Lak Cave

Location : https://maps.app.goo.gl/9koNoTMVNp1ZfciY6

Khao Lak cave is located at Tham Khao Lak Bureau of Monks, some 48km south of Chumphon town. Take Highway 41 for about 31km til you reach a junction for a road to the right.
Take this road to the right. After about 7km there is a tee junction where you turn left. 4km after the tee junction you have to turn right.
6km along this road the turning to the Tham Khao Lak Bureau of Monks is on the right. It is signposted. Follow the road round to the Monks building.
To the left of the building you will find a path that takes you up to the face of the mountain. The first thing you come to is a series of Buddha images.
And in front of theses Buddha images is this rather jolly statue.
If you continue round the cliff face you will come to the entrance of the first cave.
This cave has been made into a place of worship. The whole floor has been tiled.
This cave is about 10m by 5m and on average about 3m high. It's a fairly plain cave however of interest is how the green algae only starts about 1m off the floor. Maybe until quite recently the cave was flooded!
If you continue along the cliff face you come to a second smaller cave.
Whilst the entrance might be smaller this cave might go though to a larger cavern. Sadly the days for me crawling on my hands and knees to find out, has long passed.
The main cave in this mountain can be found a further 50m on.
No crawling on your hands and knees here for the entrance tunnel is about 4m in diameter and extends 100m into the mountain.
The tunnel leads through to a big chamber which must be 40m x 30m and 10m high. And you are not alone, there are hundreds of bats.
The cave is in it natural state and contains a good number of formations.
The 'Caves & Caving in Thailand' website has referenced this as Cave No. CP0088.
