Sing Cave is found in the grounds of Wat Tham Sing some 24km south of Chumphon Town. 14km along Highway 41 take the junction turning right towards Khun Krathing. Follow this road for 6km and turn left heading for Tham Sing. Go along this road for 3km til you reach a T junction. Turn left and the Wat is 500m up on the right.
An impressive 6m high lion (Sing in Thai) head greets you at the entrance to this cave. Photo taken in 2017 before the lion was repainted.
Within the lions head is a statue being of a man's body and the head of a lion.
To the right of the statue you will find steps down into the cave. The switch for the cave's lighting is on the column to the left, at the top of the steps.
The cave goes some 50m into the hill. Whilst lighting has been installed, always if exploring caves bring a good tourch.
Around Tham Sing there are a lot of farm and it seems the rich soil has coloured the water entering the cave. This gives the stalactites and stalagmites a brownish colour and in places it looks like molten chocolate.
Legend has it the the cave got its name from a stalagmite shaped like a lion. At the end of the passageway there is a stalagmite with a Monk's robe rapped round it. Sadly we could not make out this to be anything like a lion!
However did find this formation that to us looked like a horse. Well a head at least!
The 'Caves & Caving in Thailand' website has referenced this as Cave No. CP0051.
