Hat Phankrai Cave is located within the grounds of Wat Hat Phankrai and is 12Km from Chumphon town. Take road 1001 heading north west out of Chumphon and the entrance to the Wat is 11km along this road to the left.
Follow the concrete road till it ends where there are two small buildings and a stone stairway leading up to the cave.
Three quarters of the way up the stone stairway is an overhang where a small reclining Buddha has been placed.
The entrance of the cave is gated, but not locked. Switches for the cave lighting is to the left behind this gate. Still recommend bring a good torch light.
After passing through the gateway the cave opens up into one large cavern of about 20m long by 10m wide and a ceiling height of about 5m. It has been made into a place of worship.
The 'Caves & Caving in Thailand' website has referenced this as Cave No. CP0103.
It is possible to venture behind the large reclining Buddha where you can find some formations.
