Bang Nam Chuet Caves
Bang Nam Chuet Caves are located within the grounds of Wat Tham Bang Nam Chuet and are 85Km south of Chumphon town. Take Highway 41 for some 50km til you reach the Khao
Pip intersection (a Tesco store is on the right just before the
intersection). Turn left at the intersection taking Road No. 4096,
heading east to Pak Tako. After about 10km turn right at the cross roads
and then left after 500m onto Road No. 4012 heading for Lang Suan.
After about 12km there will be a road to the right which is sign posted
for the temple.
Take this road to the right and follow the road for 2Km up to the Temple.

The cave by which the temple gets its name is accessed by way of a set of steps.
This is a small cave, going no more than 5m into the hill. At the back of the cave is a small Buddha shrine. Being close to the sea the walls have a green tint from the salt in the air.
The 'Caves & Caving in Thailand' website has referenced this as Cave No. CP0110.
Within the temple grounds we found a second cave that can be accessed at ground level and is to the left of the first cave.
This cave is untouched with no construction within.
On our first visit (Nov 2016) the cave was flooded so were unable to venture that far in.
On a second visit (Apr 2017) the water had gone down allowing access through a small opening to an inner chamber.
The 'Caves & Caving in Thailand' website has referenced this as Cave No. CP0087.
From this inner chamber there was a chimney going straight up to a small opening.
The walls of the chamber were smooth and some unknown white dots showed up under torch light.
Bats were flying around us all the time.
