Malagor Cave

Location : 10.8785787, 99.5083215
Malagor Cave is found in the grounds of Tham Malagor Bureau of Monks and is some 82km from Chumphon Town. Take road No. 3180 out of Chumphon Town. After 21km turn right onto road No. 3201 which forms part of the "Scenic Route".  You will see these signs along the road.
Follow the "Scenic Route" on roads 3201, 4004, 3253 and the 4015. 3Km past Wat Kaeo Prasert turn right, Wat Tham Tong is on the left.
3km along this road turn left (first concrete road you come too) and this takes you up to Bureau of Monks. The steps up to the cave are to the right of the buildings.
It is about 40 steps up to the cave entrance.
As you enter you find yourself on a plateau with steps going down to your left and right. We first ventured to the right where you find a large seated Buddha.
The cave floor in this area is fairly flat and stretches about 50m in length.
There are small passageways to explore however you must have a good torch as there is no lighting installed.
Venturing back up to the plateau and going left you must take care as the pathway narrows with a 3m drop on one side.
This part of the cave is more of a tunnel and in places is only 0.5m high. In one area there was an opening to a lower level but as it was a shear drop we were unable to venture down. The tunnel eventually comes out into a larger area where there is a hole in the roof.
Looking though the hole you can see a roof. Just hope we were not looking up the hole of the Monks toilet. 😁
The 'Caves & Caving in Thailand' website has referenced this as Cave No. CP0100. Malagor is the Thai name for papaya, however we could not see how the cave got this name as nothing inside looked anything like a fruit.
