Hin Dam Gorge can be found beside Wat Roj Damri some 65km south of Chumphon town. Take Highway 41 from Chumphon town for some 47km till you reach the Khao Pip intersection (a Tesco store is on the right just before the intersection). Turn right at the intersection onto road No. 4139 heading towards Khao Thalu. After 13km turn left onto road No. 4014, directions towards Tham Thip Prida. 5km along this road you cross a bridge over the Hin Dam river and the Wat (temple) is immediately to your left.
The locals have called this gorge their 'Grand Canyon'.
The gorge has steep dark limestone rock walls.
During the dry season the river nearly dries so it is possible to walk the gorge.
Other times there is a good depth of water for play.
The water is clear whereby fish find it hard to hide.
On the hill to the right of the gorge you will find a nice small through cave where sunlight can penetrate giving a nice mix of colours to the stalagmites..
Another place worth checking out is a collection of boulders to the right of the entrance to the gorge.
