Khao Khiao Forest Viewpoint
Location : 10.177345, 99.154384
Khao Khiao Forest Viewpoint is 52km south of Chumphon town. Take Highway 41 south for 44km till you reach the junction for road 4198 on your left. Travel down road 4198 for 3.5km and then take the road to your left, just after a temple. 2km down the road take the first road to the right and a further 2km you should come to this crossroad. Here is the entrance to Khao Khiao Forest.
From here you have two options. One you can arrange (best booked in advance) for a 4x4 to take you up the mountain. Details regarding contact numbers etc can be found on Khao Khiao Forest View Point Facebook Page. Understand the 4x4 costs 400 Bhat and can take up to 6 people. The other option is to walk up which takes about 30 minutes. Whilst the track is very steep in places a good part of it is under cover of trees. There are many places to take in the views.

Also on one visit saw a dusky leaf monkey jumping between the trees. Sadly he/she moved quicker than I could get my camera out so only got some shots in the distance.

Certainly a nice view to wakeup too.
To get to the ridge of Khao Khiao there is a roped path at the end of the track.
The track only goes up about 80% of the way to where this building is.
Found a number of platforms here which are provided for those who wish to stay overnight. To get to the ridge of Khao Khiao there is a roped path at the end of the track.
On the top you have nearly a 360 degree viewpoint. This is the view looking westwards.
The view looking north where you can see the mangrove forest around Thung Kha Bay.
The best view is looking eastwards towards the sea. Here a nice viewing platform has been built.
With the high elevation it is possible to see the holiday island of Ko Tao. But you would need a clearer day than we had as you could only make it out in silhouette.

On our last visit construction of a viewing platform looking westwards was underway. In fact it was completed soon after our visit.
