Wat Rat Buranaram
Location : 9.9266411, 99.0195332
Wat Rat Buranaram is approximately 71km south of Chumphon town. Take Highway 41 til you reach the crossroads (traffic lights) for Lang Suan. Turn right at the crossroads and then after 1.5km take the turning to the left.
Follow this road for just over 1km and it will take you right up to the temple.
What makes this a nice place to visit is the large landscaped temple grounds.
An ornate iron bridge takes you over the river
No sure why but found a lot of elephant statues around the temple. Two support this clock tower.
Even the watering system follows the theme.
On the northern hill you will find a waterfall. Did wonder where the water was coming from! Sadly not natural but pumped from the river.
To the left of the entrance, halfway up the hill is a concrete water storage tank. It is possible to climb up to it. From there you have a nice view down to the temple and the valley beyond.
Please keep the place tidy and throw your rubbish in these rather special bins.
