Taikiam's Sunday Market

Taikiam's Sunday Market is 98km south of Chumphon in Lamae District. Take Highway 41 south to Lamae, turning left after 91km onto road 4112 which will take you into the town. By following  directions to the Maejo University you will eventually come to the coast road 4019. Turn left onto the coast road and the market is on the right some 3 km after the University.

You will find a lot of small markets in Thailand but this one is a little different. It is more akin to a food hall under trees with many stalls selling a variety of cooked food. It is open every Sunday from 8am to 5pm.

Try a refreshing drink served in a bamboo cup.

Or just explore what else is on offer. Me, I liked the chicken pastries.

Shaded seating areas have been provided around the market so you can enjoy your purchases. Facilities to wash your hands and toilets are also available.

At the far end of the market there is a small river.

Over the bridge you can take a walk to the sea.

Around mid-day the stall owners come out front and give a dance.
