Ao Bang So Beach

Ao Bang Son Beach is 34Km north of Chumphon town. Take road No. 3180 out of Chumphon Town. After 21km turn right onto road No. 3201 which forms part of the "Scenic Route". You will see these signs along the road.

Road 3201 runs along the full length of Ao Bang Son Beach which you should see through the trees on the right. Sadly not a lot of places to get close to the beach. The best public access can be found by going to the end of road No. 3201, turn right onto the 4004 and after 250m take the smaller road which goes straight on.

This smaller road takes you right up to the beach.

Ao Bang Son is a long curved sandy beach. The view to the south looking towards Saphli.

And looking north towards the Laem Thaen headland.

The beach is suitable for children as the water is shallow for a long way out. 

As the Bang Son river flows into this bay the water can be cloudy. If you are looking for a place with a good depth of water to swim and cleaner would suggest trying Thung Sang Beach which is 20km north of Ao Bang Son Beach, still on the 4004 "Scenic Route".

For those who like to record their visit on Facebook/Instagram etc, there is a nice place to take that photo.

Those with a bit of energy can climb Khao Dinsor (Pencil Hill), for from the top you get a great view of the beach.
