Wat Khao Chedi Viewpoint

At the top you will find a large golden Buddha statue, some 20m in height.
From this elevated position there is nearly a 360 degree panoramic view around Pathio district. Looking eastwards you can see the sea.
Next to the large golden Buddha is a Chedi (Buddhist stupa) from the Ayutthaya-period, which the temple gets it name.
Wat Khao Chedi is 56 km north of Chumphon town. Take Highway 4 for 38km till you reach Tha Sae. Turn right at the intersection, just after the bend, onto road No. 3201, signposted for the airport, and travel 17km to the town of Pathio. In the town some 500m after the railway track you should see signs directing you to the temple entrance which is on the left.
The main temple complex is found at the side of a hill. However if you continue along the entrance road it is possible to drive to the summit, for the road loops around the hill.
From this elevated position there is nearly a 360 degree panoramic view around Pathio district. Looking eastwards you can see the sea.
Looking north.
Looking west across the town of Pathio you get the view of the mountains.Beside the Chedi is a small building with highly decorated internal walls where in the center can be found a Buddha footprint image.
For those with a bit of energy can walk up if they wish! An ornate stairway can be found by the main temple buildings and will take you to the top of the hill.
