Khao Kriap Stupa and Viewpoint

The Stupa on Khao Kriap is located in the grounds of Wat Tham Khao Kriap about 92km south from Chumphon Town (10km from Amphoe Lang Suan). Take Highway 41 for 85km until you reach the road for Ban Khao Luang on the right. The U-turn is some 500m pass the road. Take the road all the way to Ban Khao Luang and when in the village turn right. Follow this road for 2km going straight over at a cross-roads. The entrance to the temple is on the right and it is signposted.

Go through the temple complex and take the track that goes up the hill on the far side. After about 150m you will come to a set of concrete stairs. These stairs take you up to Khao Kriap Cave. For the Stupa continue to the right, on the track.

About 50m from the stairs the track will take you round to the Stupa which is on the top of a large outcrop.

At the top of the steps can be found a golden Paranirvana Stupa.

From the high elevation you get a good view looking east and south over the plantations of Lamea.

When we visited we meet the Burmese labour who constructed the Stupa.
