Thewa Cave

Thewa Cave can be found at Tham Thewa Monastery which is 76 km south of Chumphon Town.
The entrance of the cave is behind the monastery building, up the hill. Stairs and a pathway leads you there. However before you go up it is best to speak to someone to ensure the cave lighting is switched on.
The cave has been made into a place of worship so out of respect please remove your shoes when entering. A short flight of stairs take you down to the base of the cave. The cave is dome shaped and is about 40m across. At the centre of the cave is a large white jade Buddha. We were advised that it was carved in Chang Mai and weights 4 tons. Amazing to think how it was carried into the cave. The 'Caves & Caving in Thailand' website has referenced this as Cave No. CP0158.Beside the second entrance/exit to the cave there are these formations.
