Mango Bay (Ao Mamuang)

Mango Bay is 51km south of Chumphon Town. Take Highway 41 from Chumphon town for some 45km until you reach the junction for the 4189, signposted to Ban Ao Mamuang. Follow this road for 5km untill the junction for the 4011.

Turn left here. Road 4011 runs parallel with Mango Bay but unfortunately there are few access ways to the beach. The easiest is the track down to Ao Mamuang Resort/Uncle Aun's Kitchen which is about 1km from the junction with the 4189.

Ao Thong Khrok Beach is a fairly straight, sandy, beach lined with coconut trees. 

To the north of the bay is a fishing village of Ban Ao Khan Thong where a number of homestays can be found.

The bay is rather shallow so if you are wanting to go swimming best time it with a high tide.

The beach has been suffering extensive erosion causing some coconut trees to fall.

This has been going on for some time as a few fallen trees have not died, but have bent back up towards the sun.

The small collection of mangrove trees have faired much better with their spreading root system.

Looking past the fishing village you can see the island of Maphrao.
