Royal Chumphon Torpedo Boat

Location: 10.3988999, 99.2788275
The Royal Chumphon Torpedo Boat can be found beside the Prince Chumphon Shrine, Hat Sai Ri Beach about 20 kilometers southeast of Chumphon town by road No. 4119 and 4098. Follow the signposts for the Prince Chumphon Shrine (Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak Shrine) which is on the hill beside the Torpedo Boat.
The torpedo boat was part of the Royal Thai Navy for 37 years.
It was decommissioned on 26 November 1975, where the Royal Thai Navy presented it to Chumphon Province in 1979.
It is 68 meters long by 6.55 meters wide.
It is possible to explore the boat.
In past years the boat has always been battleship grey, the colour of naval vessels of the time. In 2018 as part of its upkeep it was painted in a lighter grey, the colour of modern navel vessels. The adoption of a lighter grey is to help deter detection under overcast skies. Not too sure why this has been done to a monument.
A good time to visit the Torpedo Boat is 19 December. Celebrations take place commemorating the birth of Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse, Prince of Chumphon (The father of the Royal Thai Navy).
At the side of the boat there is a building with torpedoes and horses out front.
Some nice photo's found on the net.
